While the first production units of HDfury4 is under testing and quality check (first pre order shipping planned on monday 20th Feb.)
We wanted to introduce you with the Stream Control feature of HDfury4.

As you are probably aware, HDfury4 is capable of outputting Digital or Analog video (or both at the same time!) in either 2D or 3D and up to 720p144 or up to 1080p72.
This high frequency setting (Frame Rate Control) can be combined with the HDfury4 Stream Control.
Said otherwise, when beaming from 2 projectors, you can go up to 720p240/720p288 and or 1080p120/1080p144!

The Stream Control is powerful and could be used in many differents ways. For example, a single HDfury4, fed with 3D content and set to Left or Right frame is able to convert 3D content into 2D in case you would like to watch 3D only content in 2D.
If you wish to use the HDfury4 in a dual 2D/3D projector setup (or wish to convert 3D into just the left or right stream) you will need two HDfury4′s. One set for Left stream and one set for Right stream.
By default they come shipped with the button in the center position for single projector use.

On a side note, we are getting numerous email about firmware version, people asking about what kind of firmware is available from HDfury.com, is it different than the one from 3Dfury.com, where to download them from, etc..
As a general answer to this: Yes, multiple firmwares are going to be available, some more powerful than others, it all depends on the resellers and distributors policies. A wide choice of features can be picked up instantly.

Finally, we are going to push the usermanual for HDfury4 live in the very next days. You will then be able to check many things upfront and get used to the amazing number of differents possibilities given by Stream Control, High Frame Rate, 3D scaling and more.

It has been a long long road of development, dozens prototypes, hundred thousands lines of code, tons of pizza and coffee too
Once again, we want to thank you, our fan base, for your support and patience over the past months and nearly years now, as for the first time in HDfury history, a product took us more than a year of hardwork, actually, HDfury4 took more than 18 months of dev and coding!
The wait is over, we can’t wait to read your feedback!

We met the schedule and just finished to ship all preorders devices for Dr.HDMI!
The Doctor will be knocking at your doors shortly for its first consultation!
Dr.HDMI will now ship everyday! A new forum space will be created to answer your first reports, questions and comments.
Feel free to join us in our quest for resolving HDMI issues and ensure perfect compatibility between HDMI equipment regardless of their specs and their HDMI revisions.

To answer many similar questions that we are getting :
No, Dr.HDMI won’t remove, deal, modify or do anything about HDCP.
It’s a fully HDCP compliant device HDMI in / HDMI out with HDCP always active.

Since the end of 2010 and since we are HDMI and HDCP official adopters, all our products won’t output in Analog if HDCP is active on the incoming digital stream. Despite this fact, HDfury is still removed from online listing, website, ebay and amazon. Some listings are deleted the very same day that they are created. Call it ignorance from the big agencies, at the same time dozen thousands of cheap and copy oriented Digital HDCP stripper are freely available everywhere including in the USA and CA countries as outlined previously (here) and for them, no one is doing anything, no international lawyers chasing them, no threats, nothing. Go figure!

Like a chap once said:
“If the laws could speak for themselves, they would complain of the lawyers in the first place.” – George Saville

Many of you are probably aware that HDfury has been removed from distributors and resellers shelves by international lawyers agency acting for the HDCP consortium.

As a results of removing the only one legit add-on card converter for preHDMI display and actually the only one that do come with dedicated features and options to ensure compatibility with various projectors, retro projector, monitor, HDTV either CRT, LCD or any others. We have seen numerous converter and stripper which will remove HDCP from any HDMI signal and output the deciphered signal digitally without any trace of HDCP anymore. They do not come with any features to ensure any compatibility with any display, and guess what!? the industry is not doing anything about them, worst than that, they let them proliferate freely.

So while they focus on chasing the only legit add-on converter for preHDMI display out there, which is a proven high quality and dedicated add-on design for big 3tubes projectors owners, they pay no attention to digital HDCP stripper available everywhere for less than 50$.

We will publish more on the legal aspect shortly, because their efforts against HDfury really worth our point of view on the subject. For the moment, please check the facts below:

We invite you to watch the following video posted on youtube.

Some Links:

Amazon.com selling the ViewHD *cheap in all way* device (horrible picture quality as reported recently by AVSforum reviewer vs HDfury1, so you can imagine how bad it would perform compared to HDfury2, HDfury3 or HDfury4, see below): http://www.amazon.com/ViewHD-Component-Converter-Support-Surround/dp/B004F9XVBC/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1328106480&sr=1-2

HDfury1 vs ViewHD (click each image for a full size comparaison)

HDfury1:

ViewHD (here you can clearly see how washed out it looks like compared to HDF1, you are also missing a lot of details, greyscale seems extremely corrupted):

Who wants more?

Now if that is not enough to convince you, let us tell you that ALL manufacturers, the very same that are also part of the HDCP consortium, included escape trick in their sources devices. Some would need firmware upgrade, some would need special service disk, some would just need remote control sequence.

As an example for a Samsung HD850, the HDCP free mode can be reached as follow:
1. Power “ON” – “no disk” showing on display
2. Press “Angle” on the Samsung remote
3. Press “4 3 2 7″
4. Press “Angle” again – OSD will show “HDCP Free” confirming the changes.

Now, you can all make your own conclusion about what could be the “legal” problem with HDfury once you know the facts.

The entire HDfury team joins together to wish a healthy new year and many blessings for our fanbase in 2K12.
As many of you are after HDfury4 (aka 3Dfury) informations, we wanted to let you know that we upgraded our FGPA to an even faster speed in order to resolve more advanced modes and timings. We are still on track for shipping in the very next weeks.
Also, we will shortly publish some informations regarding the “legal” matter with DMCA in US/CA since we are getting a lot of questions regarding resellers and distributors who dropped HDfury due to “legal” threat in US/CA or even in Europeans countries.
We are willing to expose our view on the subject and explain why we had to take a new direction and significantly upgrade our hardware line up in order to be back and able to stay “legally” on the shelves again.

“legal” & “legally” above do not make much sense because till now no court case ever happened on the subject.

While many researchers recently demonstrated how easy and vulnerable HDCP protection scheme is (recently see here: http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=23373)
The almighty and famous hacker named Bunnie (behind original Xbox hack and Chumby device) recently made a very interesting use of the HDCP master key published last year on pastebin.

Bunnie discloses a new use for the HDCP master key that side-steps some of the potential legal issues. This hack never decrypts video; without decryption, there is no circumvention, and as a result the DMCA cannot apply to this hack. Significantly, by demonstrating a bona-fide commercially significant purpose for the HDCP master key that does not circumvent an access control measure, this hack impairs the equating of trafficking or possession of the HDCP master key to circumvention and/or circumvention-related crimes.

The main purpose of this hack is to enable the overlay of video content onto an HDCP encrypted stream. The simple fact that a trivial video overlay becomes an interesting topic is illustrative of the distortion of traditional rights and freedoms brought about by the DMCA. While the creation of derivative works of video through dynamic compositing and overlay (such as picture in picture) seems intuitively legal and natural in a pre-HDCP world, the introduction of HDCP made it difficult to build such in-line equipment. The putative purpose role of HDCP in the digital video ecosystem is to patch the plaintext-hole in the transmission of otherwise encrypted video from shiny disks (DVDs, BDs) to the glass (LCD, CRT). Since the implementation of video overlay would typically require manipulation of plaintext by intermediate processing elements, or at least the buffering of a plaintext frame where it can be vulnerable to readout, the creation of such devices has generally been very difficult to get past the body that controls the granting of HDCP keys, for fear that they can be hacked and/or repurposed to build an HDCP stripper. Also, while a manufacturer could implement such a feature without the controlling body’s blessing, they would have to live in constant fear that their device keys would be revoked.

While the applications of video overlay are numerous, the basic scenario is that while you may be enjoying content X, you would also like to be aware of content Y. To combine the two together would require a video overlay mechanism. Since video overlay mechanisms are effectively banned by the HDCP controlling organization, consumers are slaves to the video producers and distribution networks, because consumers have not been empowered to remix video at the consumption point.

The specific implementation of this hack enables the overlay of a WebKit browser over any video feed; a concrete example of the capability enabled by this technology is the overlay of twitter feeds as “news crawlers” across a TV program, so that one may watch community commentary in real-time on the same screen. While some TV programs have attempted to incorporate twitter feeds into the show, the incorporation has always been on the source side, and as such users are unable to pick their hashtags. Now, with this hack, the same broadcast program (say, a political debate) can have a very different viewing experience based on which hashtag is keyed into the viewer’s twitter crawler.
